Guetzli Swabian advent cookies

At Christmas it is always good to get stuff from home, and when home is in the Black Forest and the stuff is a box of Swabian Guetzli, then the pleasure is perfect. It is a Central European tradition to make homemade cookies this time of year. Each one is an individual work of art and tasty as only Oma knows how to make them. Last year I was lucky to be able to try the
Czech cukrovi cookies and this year it's the turn of Susi's Swabian designer Guetzli. I just hope that the salamander leaves some for me when I go there next time.
A lot of the traditional recipes use eggs, although I found some intriguing combinations that used honey, sugar and flour as the base, together with nutmeg, lemon and orange peel, and Kirschwasser (cherry brandy). The permutations are endless, as are the names, such as Basler Leckerli, Brunsli, and Nussleckerli.

Cookie Mouse is going to use the power of serendipity this season to find a simple but special Christmas cake recipe, so I'll be keeping an eye out for any cool ideas my vegan blogging buddies have. The oven I'll be using is a bit flakey so I'll have to keep it simple (Gaffer's Law!)

If I could find a vegan version of Astra Libris' Cinnamon Bun Bundt Cake, that could be a good candidate! CCV, would your Agar Agar maybe do the trick?

Mmmm Christmas cake... haha I could throw agar into anything! I'd love to see a vegan version of that cinnamon bun cake, because it sounds really yummy.

I don't have a Christmas cake recipe but I usually make a vegan version of this Swiss Stollen (sweet bread) recipe. I also substitute my own candied citrus peels and dried cherries for the fruit so I can avoid the high fructose corn syrup-laden versions in the store.

Thanks for the link, VG. CCV, do you think that if I threw Agar Agar at my girlfriend it would improve our relationship?
