Yesterday afternoon I said goodbye to my friend Ryan, who was going back to Switzerland. We got to know each other in the Cleft, where we had spent many hours talking of the spirit. They were good days, and I'll have many memories of our philosophical discussions. Ryan is one those rare people who has an intuitive ability to impart faith in that which is good. This week meeting Palden Gyatso, on Dam Square during Human Rights Day, left a deep impression. Coming so close to a living legend of man's ability to transcend suffering with a smile leaves its mark.
This was the week of the outlaw, the pirate, and the renegade. L'Étranger. It's fun learning how to use your little toy gun. Have a good Christmas, Ryan! It's a great song!
